02 / SEO BASICS
How search engines discover and rank your website.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is about helping search engines understand your content and helping users find your website.
Search engines ask the question: which source deserves to be trusted on this topic? If your website is deemed untrustworthy by the search engine, your clients will have a very difficult time finding it. If you are ranked highly, your potential clients will find your site quickly, and can drive even more organic traffic.
Organic ranking is something that cannot be bought, unlike paid ads, and must be earned by following your preferred search engine’s guidelines. As for Google, it is a fully automated search engine that uses a huge system of computers called crawlers to explore the web continuously, which look for pages to add to Google’s index (a huge database of crawled pages, grouped together based on content). Only after being indexed can you possibly be served, which means to be ranked and finally shown in the search results.
Google will analyse the following determining factors to deem your site of high quality and trustworthiness:
01
Content Quality
02
Relevance
03
Backlinks
04
Core Web Vitals
05
Information Architecture
01 / CRAWLING
Google search begins the organic ranking process by
following three stages: Crawling, Indexing, and Serving.
During crawling, Googlebot checks your pages and downloads
content such as text, images, and videos.
MAKE SURE
- Your content is accessible.
-
Your information architecture provides
Googlebot a clear path through your pages.
-
Your website has a clean and efficient
directory structure.
-
Backlinks (links leading to an external site) help Googlebot discover your site.
COMMON PROBLEMS
-
Broken Links
-
Messy Navigation
-
Redirect Loops
-
Server or Network issues
-
robots.txt
(a tool that tells Google which URLs to access)
restrictions can prevent effective crawling.
02 / INDEXING
After Googlebot crawls your site, Google tries to
understand what each page is about. Textual content,
HTML, JavaScript, and other signals help determine
how the page should be stored and categorized. They
also help determine if it is duplicate content or
canonical (a page that may possibly be shown in search
results).
MAKE SURE
-
Wesbite contains relevant, high-quality content
-
Passes EEAT Four Part Test:
- Experience
- Expertise
- Authoritativeness
- Trust
COMMON PROBLEMS
- Low-quality content
- robots.txt preventing access
- Weak website structure
03 / SERVING
In the final stage, Google evaluates relevant pages
for a user's query and determines which pages should
appear in search results. When a user types a query
into the search bar, Google will then go through the many
related web pages, and do an assessment of core web
vitals to choose the one that will provide the best user
experience, paired with best relevance, trustworthiness
and pages highest quality signals. Keywords in the user
query will target specific types of pages, which we will
get more into soon.
VITALS:
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)
- Interaction to Next Paint (INP)
- Cumulative Layout Shifts (CLS)
MEASURES:
- Loading Speed
- Responsiveness
- Visual Stability
03 / CURRENT KEYWORD RANKING
Where Gioia currently appears in search.
For our SEO efforts to reach maximum potential, we must utilize
queries and keywords to help your website rank higher and better
match what potential clients are searching for.
With conversational searches becoming more common, longer and
more specific queries can help connect Gioia Hairdressing with
users looking for relevant services. Tools such as Google Keyword
Planner, Google Search Console, and Google Trends can help identify
keywords to integrate throughout the website. I have selected 3
keywords for Gioia Hairdressing and included where they each stand according to seranking.com.
POSITION RANKING
The higher the ranking, the more visibility.
DIFFICULTY STANDING
High = fewer people will find your site.
Low = more people will find your site.
MONTHLY SEARCH VOLUME
Estimated searches from local and commercial users.
01
"Italian Hair"
I chose this keyword because many different queries can
derive from “Italian hair.” It is also a unique trait of
this particular salon, making it a useful keyword to target.
EXAMPLE QUERIES
“Where can I find an Italian hair
salon near me?”
“What is a hair salon that specializes in
Italian hair design?”
POSITION
22–100
DIFFICULTY
5–22
VOLUME
140
up to / month
02
"Beauty Salon"
Although “beauty salon” is a broad keyword, it provides
an opportunity for Gioia to compete for visibility among
other hairdressers.
EXAMPLE QUERIES
“What is a beauty salon that treats
damaged hair?”
“Help me find a beauty salon that
carries Kerastase.”
POSITION
28–95
DIFFICULTY
7–20
VOLUME
170
up to / month
03
"North Dallas"
This keyword focuses on local traffic. It is specific
enough to target potential clients within an already
crowded city.
EXAMPLE QUERIES
“Help me find hairdressers located in
North Dallas.”
“What are some upscale hair salons in
North Dallas?”
POSITION
18–48
DIFFICULTY
8–13
VOLUME
20
up to / month
* Although search volume is lower, this is an area
worth developing for Gioia's website.
04 / WEBSITE ANALYSIS
What is working and where improvements are needed.
An evaluation of Gioia Hairdressing's website
identifiedseveral basic SEO elements that are being
implemented effectively. At the same time, there are gaps in site structure, metadata,
keyword alignment, and local search targeting that may limit
organic visibility in the Dallas-Fort Worth market.

ON PAGE STRENGTHS
✓
Geographic + Brand Alignment
Primary title tags incorporate localized branding.
Terminology such as Dallas hair salon and
references to Italian culture create relevance
for users searching within the Dallas area and for
the salon's Italian cultural attributes.
✓
Business Contact Information
The business name, address, and phone number (NAP)
are included across primary pages and contact forms,
providing important business information and a signal
of trust to users.
✓
Clear Service Listings
Core services such as master and junior styling,
men's haircuts, keratin treatments, balayage, and
highlights are clearly listed, making the salon's
service offerings immediately apparent to visitors.
ON PAGE WEAKNESSES
×
Outdated Website Content
The site's former safety-procedures page
continued to provide COVID-era guidance years after
its last update (2022). Outdated or orphaned pages like this
do not contribute to current business or ranking goals.
×
Broken Call-to-Action
A Call Salon button on the services page was
observed redirecting users to general Google search
results instead of initiating a phone call or directing
them to the appropriate contact action.
×
Limited Local Keyword Targeting
Dallas appears in page titles, but the site does not
visibly target nearby high income suburban markets such as Plano, Addison,
Frisco, and Richardson. This limits opportunities to
target more specific local searches.
×
Services Consolidated Into One Page
Major services are presented on a single consolidated
page. From an organic ranking perspective, it hinders conversational queries.
High-value searches such as Balayage Specialist Dallas or
Keratin Hair Treatment Far North Dallas lack dedicated, keyword-focused pages and
URLs.
×
Weak Heading Keywords
Headings such as Welcome and
Our Menu use general or stylistic wording
rather than service and geographic keywords that
could provide stronger search context.
×
Missing Image ALT Text
Image media does not appear to have descriptive ALT
attributes. Relevant descriptions, such as
Dallas salon balayage hair result, can provide
additional context about an image's content.
Due to these weaknesses, the Google Image search ranking
will decline accordingly.

06 / YOUR ACTION PLAN
SEO Recommendations and Traffic Boosting Ideas.
Gioia can strengthen its search presence through a combination
of backlink acquisition, technical website improvements, and
non-paid strategies designed to bring more potential clients
to the website.
01
LINK ACQUISITION STRATEGY
Build relationships with relevant organizations and
businesses that can direct users — and search engines —
back to Gioia's website.
☑
BRIDAL + EVENT PARTNERSHIPS
Collaborate with DFW wedding organizations, bridal
platforms, and event directories with established
digital presences. These partnerships can create
editorial links pointing to dedicated bridal hair
and styling pages on Gioia's website.
☑
LOCAL BUSINESS DIRECTORIES
List Gioia Hairdressing on relevant Dallas-area
directories and keep the salon's business information
accurate and consistent. Examples identified in the
report include Yelp Dallas, Loc8NearMe, and the Dallas
Regional Chamber of Commerce directories.
☑
REGIONAL FEATURES + FASHION BLOGS
Pitch hair-care tips, seasonal trend commentary,
and Italian-inspired style guides to regional
publications and fashion blogs. These features can
mention Gioia's services and products while creating
relevant links back to the website.
☑
LOCAL EVENTS + SPONSORSHIPS
Sponsor local events, charity galas, or fashion shows
throughout North Dallas and Plano. Local partnerships
can increase brand exposure while creating
opportunities for local business backlinks.
02
TECHNICAL SEO RECOMMENDATIONS
Improve how efficiently search engines understand the
website while also improving the experience for visitors.
STRUCTURED DATA
Schema Markup
Add structured JSON-LD markup to provide Googlebot with
organized business information such as operating hours
(Google for developers, 2024), coordinates, and price ranges.
IMAGE PERFORMANCE
Modern Image Formats
Optimize website images by converting appropriate PNG
and JPEG files to modern formats such as WebP.
PAGE PERFORMANCE
Lazy Loading
Apply lazy loading (Google Chrome for developers, 2022)
so images and other media do not all have to load
immediately, helping reduce unnecessary loading demands.
03
TRAFFIC BOOSTING IDEAS
Gioia can also grow website traffic through two
complementary, non-paid strategies designed to reach
potential clients beyond traditional service searches.
LOCAL CO-MARKETING
Build a DFW bridal ecosystem.
Partner with non-competing premium wedding service
providers such as DFW bridal boutiques, wedding planners,
and photographers.
Gioia could create a downloadable resource titled
"The Ultimate DFW Bride Hair Preparation Timeline."
Partner vendors could distribute the co-branded guide to
prospective customers while linking back to a dedicated
landing page on Gioia's website.
This strategy is designed to generate referral traffic
while also creating opportunities for relevant local
backlinks.
CONTENT + SOCIAL SEARCH
Create an Italian hair education hub.
Develop a specialized content hub featuring
Italian-inspired tutorials, home hair-care routines,
and post-color maintenance advice.
Written educational content could be combined with
short-form videos from YouTube and Instagram Reels.
This gives Gioia opportunities to target longer,
informational search queries while connecting its
website and social content.
Educational content can also demonstrate the knowledge
and experience of Gioia's stylists while giving visitors
more reasons to explore the website.
